Our certified CEOs will lead the way and share with you the hidden gems that will have your camera’s shutter working overtime.

Light walking and hiking suitable for most fitness levels. Nothing too challenging.

  • Trip Type: Small Group

Small group experience; Max 20, avg 17.

  • Age requirement: 18-39

Who goes on Adventure Tours? Everyone! Group sizes are 10- 16. There's a rough ratio of 60:40 female-to-male, and the ratio of solo travellers to others (couples, friends travelling together, etc) is roughly 40:60.

Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive at any time. The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but make sure you’re back in time to meet the group.

After introductions, your CEO will review the details of your tour. Please note that normal check-in times apply at our start hotels, but you can usually store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Accommodation:  Hotel Boulevard (or similar)

Day 2: Nairobi/ Arusha

Travel south and cross the border into Tanzania.

  • Shuttle: Nairobi – Arusha (7h-8h/ Full Day/ 290km)

Move efficiently from point A to point B aboard this dependable ride. This is a shared shuttle and may include non-G Adventures travellers. A G Adventures CEO will be accompanying the shuttle to assist our travellers at the border and throughout the day.

  • Border Crossing (Kenya - Tanzania): Namanga

Ready for a little more ink in your passport? Grab your bags and get ready to check another country off your bucket list.

Meals included:  Breakfast

Day 3: Arusha/ Serengeti National Park

Enjoy a wildlife safari drive en route to the central Serengeti. Spend the night at a basic bush camp and enjoy the starry African skies.

The Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater portion of the trip will make use of specialized 4x4 7-seater safari vehicles, with experienced safari driver/guides, who will ensure wonderful wildlife encounters. The safari vehicles each have sliding windows and a large pop-up roof, perfect for viewing animals and scenery. The group will split up among several vehicles and your CEO will spend time in each vehicle over the next three days.

  • Serengeti National Park Safari

This is the reason you came to Africa. Charge your camera, grab your binoculars, and set out on safari. Your eagle-eyed driver will keep an eye out for wildlife – buffaloes, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, and more. Tanzania’s Serengeti tends to be less crowded than some of Kenya’s reserves, so enjoy the scenery, the vast expanse of the grasslands, the play of light and shadow, and the up-close look at wild Africa.

Accommodation: Seronera Campsite (or similar)

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Day 4: Serengeti National Park/ Ngorongoro

Set off on a wildlife safari drive on the way out of the Serengeti. Camp on the Ngorongoro Crater's rim.

Before leaving the Serengeti, enjoy a morning safari drive to see the animal kingdom come to life in this incredible expanse of grassland savannah. Then return and break camp, and journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, famous for Africa's best wildlife viewing. The views from the Ngorongoro Crater rim are stunning, and there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife, due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Arrive at the campsite at the crater rim in the late afternoon.

Please note: if you have pre-booked the Serengeti Balloon Safari, today's the day for this activity! The CEO will give the final confirmation, as it is subject to change. You will miss the included morning wildlife safari drive with the group, but you will have a much better view from above!

Please note that due to the high-altitude location of our camp, temperatures can drop at night. We recommend bringing extra layers to wear during the evening and following morning.

Optional Activities:

  • Serengeti Balloon Safari, Serengeti National Park (599USD per person)

Spirited aloft in a hot-air balloon, view the wildlife and terrain of the Serengeti that only the birds see. Enjoy a champagne breakfast and keep that shutter-finger good and limber—you’ll be using it plenty over the course of your hour in the air.

Accommodation: Simba Campsite (or similar)

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Day 5: Ngorongoro/ Arusha

Venture down to the crater floor, and take in a final safari experience viewing the high concentration of wildlife bound by the crater walls. On the way back to Arusha, stop at Mto wa Mbu village to visit the G for Good project, including a guided cultural walk and traditional lunch with a local family.

  • Your G for Good Moment: Mto wa Mbu Village Visit and Lunch

Take part in a cultural walk to learn about life in this East African town. Mto wa Mbu has attracted some 18,000 residents from 120 different tribes. During the two-hour tour, visit the village's local market, go right to the farmer's fields, see how huts are constructed, and meet artisans in their shops.

Afterwards, sit down with our new friends and enjoy a traditional lunch of meat and plantains.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch

Day 6: Arusha/ Dar es Salaam

Hit the road, and enjoy the varied landscapes on the way to the Indian Ocean coast.

Leave Arusha early and be on the lookout for the majestic Mt Kilimanjaro, on the road towards Dar es Salaam. The city started as a fishing village in the mid-19th century before becoming a port and trading centre.

Zanzibar Express; transfer this morning from your Arusha hotel to the airport for a scenic flight to Zanzibar. Arrive in Stone Town and spend the afternoon exploring on your own. Enjoy an extra night in Stone Town and meet back up with the group the following day. Only breakfast included.

Optional Activities:

  • Zanzibar Express Southbound

Looking forward to your trip but not as much to the two-day road journey from Arusha to Zanzibar? Upgrade this part of your tour and fly instead! You’ll cut your travel time between the two cities to a fraction and enjoy an extra night in Zanzibar, where you can wait (nice and relaxed) for the rest of your group to join you. Includes all transfers, local flight, and one additional hotel night in Zanzibar.

Meals included: Breakfast | Dinner

Day 7: Dar es Salaam/ Stone Town

Catch the ferry to Zanzibar. Enjoy an orientation walk with your CEO in historic Stone Town, and opt to continue on for a longer walking tour, or explore on your own.

Zanzibar is a Muslim society. Immodestly dressed women or men in shorts will get harassed and cause great offence in Stone Town. On the beach, customs are a little more relaxed, but travellers are encouraged to be respectful of the island's culture and cover up when walking around. Never try to take a photograph without asking permission.

  • Ferry: Dar es Salaam – Stone Town (2h)

Get to the next spot on your route aboard a convenient and efficient ferry boat.

  • Stone Town Orientation Walk

This orientation walk is just a brief introduction. If you'd like to learn more in depth information about Stone Town, we recommended going on a guided city tour.

  • Free Time, Stone Town (Afternoon)

Feel free to explore on your own, or join a guided tour.

Accommodation: Tausi Palace Hotel (or similar)

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 8: Stone Town/ Jambiani

  • Free Time, Jambiani (Afternoon)
