About Us
Shandon Travel has been trading in Cork for over 51 years and is one of Ireland’s longest-established travel agencies. The Cruise Centre is our dedicated cruise division, and we’re looking for an experienced cruise professional to manage the department.
We’re looking for someone who has real cruise experience and can use that knowledge when advising customers, selling holidays and managing bookings.
The Role
As Senior Cruise Specialist, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of our cruise business. This includes advising customers and making sales, as well as managing the administration behind each booking.
You’ll need a good knowledge of cruise holidays and the confidence to recommend ships, cruise lines and itineraries based on what each customer is looking for. Attention to detail is also important; particularly when managing payments, documentation and supplier deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise customers and sell cruise holidays across a range of cruise lines, itineraries & cabin types
- Manage the full booking administration process: deposits, payment schedules, documentation, and supplier deadlines
- Develop and maintain relationships with cruise line partners and consortia
- Deal with customer queries and provide advice based on your own cruise experience
- Keep up to date with new ships, itineraries and cruise industry trends
- Support marketing and promotional activity for the cruise department
- Ensure compliance with booking terms, ABTA/CTA-style protocols, and consumer protection requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Personal cruise experience: you’ve cruised multiple times and can speak with firsthand knowledge of ships, lines and itineraries
- Experience selling cruises in a travel agency or similar sales environment
- Strong administration skills, organised with good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bookings and deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- GDS or other booking systems experience would be an advantage
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
