Following wildebeests - The Serengeti

Following wildebeests - The Serengeti

  • Wednesday 10 February 2010

The Serengeti provides an awesome opportunity to witness on of the last great animal migrations on the planet. You won’t be able to see such a concentration of wildebeests, zebras and Thomson’s Gazelles and other wild animals anywhere else. The Serengeti National Park is the largest of Tanzania’s National Parks. From a four-wheel-drive safari vehicle you can safely spot the ‘big five’ – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino, which all live in the Serengeti. Other players on the great safari stage include bulky water buffalos and giraffes can be seen wandering the open plains, stretching their long necks upwards to trim the acacia trees, while families of playful baboons tumble and mock fight at their feet. The Serengeti is one of the best places to get close to one of it most famous attractions – lions. You might be able to see a pride of these big cats lying in the sun or even feeding after a kill. But the show doesn’t just stop there. Sightings of mighty elephants, wallowing hippos, stealthy crocs and elusive leopards are all in the repartee of this amazing safari. Another way of touring the park is to take the skies in a hot-air balloon. Floating through the air and overlooking the endless plains, you will enjoy the ultimate panoramic view and the memories of this experience will stay with you for a long time.
