In search of the perfect relaxing getaway? Suzanne tells us why she loved staying at the five-star Château des Vigiers spa and golf resort:

"Charming Château Des Vigiers is nestled amongst vineyards, lakes and woodlands in the heart of the wonderful and picturesque Dordogne in the south-west of France.

We stayed in the magnificent château with its sumptuous décor and interiors. It was previously known as the "Petit Versailles" and it lives up to the name. It's brimming full of charm and wonderful open fireplaces also- the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple. We travelled for a weekend break in September and saw the Dordogne at its very best. 

You can play some wonderful golf – they offer 3 wonderful courses in fact. The spa here is by luxurious French brand SOTHYS and we also enjoyed an amazing spa treatment – just pure relaxation!

We finished off the evenings with an aperitif by the pool and a wonderful meal in the gastronomic Michelin-starred Les Fresques. Chef Didier Casaguana was awarded the first star in 2017. They also offer a wonderful wine menu... in fact, Château Des Vigiers have their own wine collection.

We also enjoyed a casual lunch on the Saturday in the Bistrot. We had some wonderful ‘Foie Gras’ famous to the area, with a glass of local refreshing wine

We took a short drive to Bergerac also on the Saturday. It's a wonderful historic town with a fascinating local market and wonderful local vineyards. There are beautiful castles all over the countryside here, it's a beautiful region and we were delighted to be in the heart of it.

We truly enjoyed a relaxing break at this wonderful French gem!"
