Our colleague has recently been onboard Explora Journeys' first ship, the stunning Explora I. Curious about what life's like onboard this new luxury cruise line? Read her account of her experience:

It is a very contemporary 5-star product and is quite unique in so many ways. The focus is on the passenger journey and experience, be it wellness, culinary or discovery.  

Staff and Service

Excellent and a diverse mix of nationalities. Staff have come from different sectors of hospitality.

Pools and Outdoor Spaces

The ship's capacity is approximately 900 passengers, yet it has 5 different pool areas with leather double bed loungers and whirlpools.

• Conservatory pool with retractable glass roof and double bed loungers
• Astern Pool is the infinity pool on deck 5 with double bed loungers
• Atoll Pool on Deck 10 with double bed loungers
• Helios Pool on Deck 12 which is a quiet and for adults-only
• Thermal Suite in Spa (free)

Suites & Décor

The ship has a very contemporary style in all areas.  Entry level Suites all have terraces and walk-in wardrobes and a lounger on the terrace. Little extras like heated floors in the bathrooms, Dyson hair dryers, and binoculars. You can also choose a bottle of wine or spirits of your choice to be left in your suite.

Cuisine

• Emporium Marketplace – This is a very different style of buffet where your food is cooked to order. Massive variety of cuisines from Italian, Asian, Burgers, Fish, Pizza, Salads, and BBQ Meats.
• Gelateria & Creperie – Great ice cream, crepes, and waffles.
• Anthology – Italian Fine Dining and this is the only restaurant that is payable.
• Fil Rouge – Open for breakfast and dinner, fish a speciality and French-inspired.
• Med Yacht – Mediterranean cuisine open for Dinner and Lunch on sea days.
• Marble & Co – Steakhouse open for dinner.
• Sakura 5 – Asian open for lunch and dinner.
• Explora Lounge 11 – Open for snacks.
• Crema Café – Coffee and Snacks.
