The Bavarian Forest is central Europe's largest forest with 6,000 km² of wooded area. In 1970 the national park Bavarian Forest was created. Together with the Bohemian Forest, this forms the largest coherent forestal nature reserve in central Europe with a total span of 900 km².
This region is also known for its affinity to winter sports. Families in particular will find exactly what they are looking for here. Those who prefer not to explore the Bavarian Forest on skis can also go on a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
The lovely castles and monasteries of the Bavarian Forest are definitively worth while a visit. Numerous restaurant and quaint huts, which offer both regional and international culinary highlights, should also be high on your list of to-do's. The Bischofsmais region offers skiing fun and relaxation against a marvelous winter backdrop!
The community of Neureichenau is surrounded by a charming mountain and forest landscape. Its idyllic location in the midst of the Bavarian Forest and at the foot of the Dreisessel mountain (1,312 m) makes the village an ideal holiday destination for travellers who are looking for quiet and relaxation.
Numerous cross-country tracks, curling lanes, toboggan runs, a snow tubing lift, and a variety of winter hiking trails lead up to the Dreisessel mountain. The Austrian ski area Hochficht in the Bohemian Forest is approximately five kilometres away and offers about twenty kilometres of piste which are especially well-suited for families.
3* Bergland Hof
Location and facilities
The family run 3-star Hotel Bergland Hof is situated at approx. 800 m altitude on a quiet and idyllic south-facing hillside at Dreisessel Mountain. The hotel offers a beautiful view of the Bavarian Forest. The resort centre of Neureichenau can be reached withing approx. 7.5 km.
The children's practise area with children's ski lift and snow tube riding run is located approx. 800 m from the hotel. The Austrian ski area "Hochficht" offers floodlid night skiing and a kids park (access in Schanzenberg am Böhmerwald) is approx. 5.5 km away. A cross-country trail can be reached in about 50 m.
The popular and cosy Hotel Bergland Hof has a friendly entrance area with reception and comfortable seating areas, lift, Bergland parlour with bar, breakfast room and a restaurant in which the hotel's director still cooks himself. A ski and snowboard room is available to store your equipment in.
The spa area, with indoor pool (daily, 7:00 - 20:00), Finnish sauna, herbal sauna, infrared cabin, Kneipp basin, relaxation room and activity shower (daily, 16:00 - 20:00, opening hours subject to change) can be used for free. Per request and for a fee, cosmetic treatments and massages can be enjoyed. Locally payable parking places are also available.
Rooms
The friendly furnished rooms have a bath or shower/wc, satellite TV, radio, safe (for a fee), hair drier and some also have a balcony.
Board
The Ultra All Inclusive board comprises a welcome drink and a rich breakfast buffet (cold and warm dishes from 8:00 - 10:00) with vitality corner, and egg dishes every second day. On Mondays (10:30 - 12:00) you can look forward to a Bavarian sleep-in breakfast with Bavarian veal sausages, pretzel varieties and wheat beer.
As a lunch snack there is a selection of salads with coffee and tea (12:00 - 13:00), and in the afternoon, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cakes, as well as ice cream for the kids is offered (15:00 - 16:00). In the evening, from 18:00 - 20:30, a buffet with soup, starter, three main dishes to choose from (incl. vegetarian option) and dessert is offered
Soft drinks are included from 8:00 - 24:00 as well as alcoholic drinks (draught ale and house wine) from 10:00 - 24:00. Spirits such as whiskey, vodka, brandy and rum as well as prosecco and wheat beer are included from 18:00 - 24:00.
