Fly from Dublin to Israel and visit Nazareth, the Mount Of Olives, the Sea of Galilee, Mount Tabor and more.
Fly from Dublin to Tel Aviv this October and spend 8 nights in the Holy Land.
The bustling city of Tel Aviv is located on the Mediterranean coastline. It's home to almost half a million people and is known for its diverse architecture, multicultural population and wold-class cuisine.
Visit the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, where tradition holds that the Archangel Gabriel visited Mary. The Grotto of the Anunciation is located on the lower level, on the site believed to be the remains of the childhood home of Mary. The first shrine is believed to have been built in the 4th century. Later Crusader- and Byzantine-era churches were erected above this and the current structure was built in 1969.
Visit the West Bank to see the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem- believed to be located on the site of Jesus' birthplace. This is the longest continuously-worshipped site in Christianity. Construction on the original church was begun by the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great in 327 AD.
Also in the West Bank is Qumran, best known as the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Jewish ritual baths, cemeteries, cisterns and pottery kilns are among the archaeological finds discovered at this site.
Rising outside West Jerusalem is the Mount of Olives. This has been the site of a Jewish cemetary for over 3000 years and is described as the site where Jesus ascended to heaven.
At the foot of this mountain lies the Garden of Gethsemane. The name Gethsemane is derived from the Aramaic for 'oil-press' and the urban garden is home to some of the oldest olive trees known; one of which dates as far back as 1092 AD.
In northeast Israel lies the Sea of Galilee, the lowest freshwater lake on earth. This site has a very long history of human activity, with settlements predating the Neolithic revolution.
In the time of Jesus, the Sea of Galilee was a busy place surrounded by settlements with thriving trade and fishing industries. The Sermon on the Mount is believed to have been given on a hill overlooking this lake, while many of his miracles are said to have occured here.
You will also visit Capernaum, on the northern shores of the Sea of Galilee, reported to have been the hometown of apostles Andrew, James, John and Simon Peter. About 10 miles west of the Sea of Galilee is Mount Tabor, where an impressive church commemorates the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus.
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Israel is the ancient fortification of Masada, in the region of Judea. This is the site of the first palaces built by Herod the Great after he gained control of the kingdom. Visitors can take a cable car to the top of the fortress.
