'I have visited Ghent and it is a much livelier city than Bruges. The city has a buzz around it. Streets lined with bars and eateries serving some fantastic locally brewed beer. Ghent is very easy to walk around the inner city, for some sites you need to catch a tram to, but these run all through the city. The Gravensteen hotel has a great location right in the heart of the historic city making sights easily accessible. The city is steeped in history and a tour guide is recommended to help you get your bearings and to give you an insight to Ghents story. It also helps you get your bearings!
Trains run from Brussels airport straight to Ghent. A short taxi ride, or tram ride, takes you into the centre of the city where you can go and explore!
