Ports of call: Southampton, England; Vigo, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Seville (Cadiz), Spain; La Coruna, Spain; Bilbao, Spain; Southampton, England
Fly in about an hour from Dublin, Cork or Shannon to London and transfer to Southampton port. Here you'll board the Independence Of The Seas for a nine-night cruise to Spain and Portugal.
Visit beautiful Vigo in northern Spain, before continuing to Portugal's colourful capital city, Lisbon. Experience wonderful Seville, and the Galician city of La Coruña. You'll also visit the wonderful Basque cities of La Coruna and Bilbao before cruising back to Southampton to connect to your homeward flight.
Discover Southampton’s maritime history at the SeaCity Museum or see impressive works in the city’s art gallery. Jane Austen used to walk Southampton’s city walls and you can too, stopping at the Tudor House Museum along the way. Go all nostalgic over vintage cars at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu or see King Arthur’s fabled Round Table at nearby Winchester, the ancient capital of England.
The sun will shine upon you as you enter the harbor of Vigo, the largest city in Spain's autonomous Galicia region. Start your adventure by ascending the Castro Fortress — you can take in views of the city and the lushly forested mountains around it from these granite-walled 17th-century fortifications.
Lisbon is a quintessential European city, full of natural beauty, historic architecture and culinary pleasures — not to mention one of the best climates anywhere on the planet. To get to know Portugal's capital, walk between the captivating miradouros — terrace viewpoints that are scattered on the hilltops, offering stunning vistas from the sea to the castles and beyond.
Watch as the light peeks through the clouds and shines down on The City of Seven Hills during your cruise to Lisbon. If you're a history buff, head to Belem or nearby Sintra to explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Jeronimos Monastery and Quinta da Regalaira.
Buzz with the nightlife and café culture of bustling La Coruna in Galicia, or enjoy its splendid beaches. Be wow’ed by the Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, the oldest working lighthouse in the world, or discover the Paseo Maritimo, a 13km bike and hiking path skirting the stunning coastline. Nearby, follow the steps of pilgrims in romantic Santiago de Compostela, one of Spain’s most celebrated cities.
Art and architecture have revitalised Bilbao, where the striking titanium curves of the Guggenheim Museum, designed by pioneering architect Frank Gehry, attract visitors from all over the world. In Casco Viejo, Bilbao’s atmospheric old town, you can explore quirky shops and boisterous bars while nearby you can discover the stunning landscapes of the Basque country and its delicious Rioja wine.
Cruise back to Southampton and board your homeward flight to Ireland.
