The Vienna Christmas Markets are an age-old tradition, dating back to the medieval period. In 1296 the king, Albrecht I, allowed the people to hold a "Krippenmarkt" in December. Since then, the festival has evolved into a truly stunning experience, with traditional foods, crafts and gifts on offer across several market sites.

The Viennese Dream Christmas Market will take place in front of the City Hall and will feature a section dedicated to kids- where they can learn to make Christmas candles or cookies. Another market- the Christmas Village in front of Belvedere Palace- offers more than 40 stalls selling traditional handicrafts in front of the stunning baroque backdrop of this famous palace.There's much much more to see and do across the city at this time. 

Christmas Markets in Vienna usually open over a number of days at the end of November, and remain open until December 23rd.
