Copenhagen offers several Christmas markets that pair perfectly with festive shopping in the city center. Scattered along the canals and charming squares, each market brings festive magic and plenty of Christmas cheer.

You can visit Tivoli’s popular Christmas market, then head to Royal Copenhagen on Strøget, where famous Danes set up Christmas tables with porcelain and decorations.

Another favourite is the traditional market at Højbro Plads, near Strøget, known as “Copenhagen’s cosiest Christmas market,” featuring many stalls and its own Santa Claus. Now in its fifth year, H.C. Andersen’s Christmas market is located in the heart of Copenhagen, at Nytorv. There's also a market at Thorvaldsens Plads, not far from Christiansborg.

Broadly speaking, Copenhagen's Christmas Markets run from late November to the New Year, though specific dates for individual markets will vary. Please note that tickets may be required to enter some markets.
