Perfect for those looking to experience northern Thailand’s cultural treasures and the natural beauty of its southern islands.

This 15-day trip will help you get off the beaten path with a trek to the region’s hilltribes but remains flexible enough to suit all tastes.

From the lush hills of the north, stitched through with the diverse colours of its hilltribes, to the soft sands of the south and the glorious chaos of Bangkok, Thailand will leave you captivated.

Is this tour for me?

  • Travel Style: 18-to-Thirtysomethings

Fast, fresh, and fun adventures that never slow down, made for young, budget-minded travellers.

  • Service Level: Basic

Simple and clean hotels and hostels; affordable public and private transport; lots of optional activities.

  • Physical Rating: 3 - Average

Some tours may include light hiking, biking, rafting, or kayaking in addition to walking.

  • Trip Type: Small Group

Small group experience; Max 18, avg 12.

  • Age requirement: 18-39

Day 1: Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok at any time.

Today is arrival day, so there are no activities planned. Enjoy free time to relax, explore the city, and adjust to the frantic pace and humid heat of Bangkok.

After your meeting, head out for an optional dinner to get to know your CEO and fellow group members better.

Day 2: Bangkok/ Chiang Mai

Opt to visit Wat Po and the Grand Palace, or check out the city's klongs by boat. Board an overnight train to Chiang Mai (potential for alternative transport during monsoon season, depending on conditions).

Experience overnight travel like a local. Sit back and get some well-earned (and likely much-needed) rest en route to your next stop.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 3: Chiang Mai

Enjoy one of two street food crawls with the group and CEO. Bring your appetite and your wallet. The CEO will bring the group to the best spots to eat and teach everyone about the local street food. Yum!

Opt to visit Doi Suthep temple, comb the night markets for souvenirs, or participate in a Thai cooking class.

Day 4: Chiang Mai/ Ban Mae Jok

Trek through rugged forests and experience the wonderful diversity of this region: each village has its own language, belief system, style of dress, and traditions. Drive from Chiang Mai to Mae Malai village, where the trek will begin. After a few hours of hiking, reach the first village.

Tucked away in the hills of northern Thailand is where the most colourful and unchanged traditional communities can be found. Trek through forests and rural terrains to visit some of these diverse hilltribe villages; often, each will have their own unique language, clothing style, and belief system that differs significantly from those of neighbouring tribes. You are well looked after by your local guides, who take the responsibility of preparing all meals and carrying food supplies.

Please note: The exact itinerary of the walking on this trip may change from time to time, taking into account the weather and local conditions. Also, please note there may be times when the use of video and/or still cameras may be inappropriate -- your CEO and guides will be able to advise you. Be prepared for the accommodation to be basic; remember, it's all about an authentic and unique experience!

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Day 5: Ban Mae Jok/ Pa Khao Lam

Trek 2-3 hrs and, after lunch, head to a Karen village to learn about traditional basket weaving and scarf-making. Continue trekking another few hours to the next village for the night.

You will also have the chance to fish at Mae Tang River using local tools; learn how to construct a bamboo raft.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Day 6: Pa Khao Lam/ Chiang Mai

After breakfast, leave the village by bamboo raft, stopping at other villages along the way. Board the traditional bamboo raft for a leisurely ride down the Mae Tang River. Reach the Lahu hill tribe village near Ban Pong Ngan. Enjoy a visit with the locals here and learn about the life and unique culture of the Lahu tribe.

Meet the van after lunch and head back to Chiang Mai for some free time to explore.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch

Day 7: Chiang Mai/ Bangkok

Opt to go shopping, enjoy a Thai massage, or explore Chiang Mai's many temples. Board an overnight train to Bangkok (potential for alternative transport during monsoon season, depending on conditions).

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 8: Bangkok

Get out and explore this fantastic city where there is endless sightseeing to be done.

There's plenty to see and do in Bangkok, and we wanted to make sure that you had some time to take it all in. Feel free to relax or try optional activities like visiting the Grand Palace, hopping on a cycle tour of the city, and visiting the National Museum. Your CEO has more ideas if you need them. Just ask!

Day 9: Bangkok/ Surat Thani

Get to know Thailand's capital. Check out Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, get a Thai massage, or explore the klongs on a boat tour before an overnight train. Enjoy a street food crawl with the group and CEO.  Bring your appetite and your wallet. The CEO will bring the group to the best spots to eat and teach everyone about the local street food. Yum!

Experience overnight travel like a local. Sit back and get some well-earned (and likely much-needed) rest en route to your next stop.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 10: Surat Thani/ Khao Sok

Discover the natural beauty of the area with an excursion to Lake Cheow Lan. Opt to go hiking or swimming in Khao Sok National Park.

Khao Sok is a diverse area of natural beauty, a perfect place for people who want to hike and get out there in nature or those that just want to chill out in a hammock by the riverside watching monkeys take their afternoon bath.

As entry to Khao Sok NP is included for the day, you can opt for a trek in the park after checking in this afternoon. The park entrance is a short walk from the hotel, as is the main stretch of restaurants and bars in town.

Meals included: Lunch

Day 11: Khao Sok/ Koh Pha Ngan

Travel across southern Thailand to Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand. Enjoy a free afternoon on the island.

Travel to Koh Phangan, known for its epic parties. Explore the island and its beaches by day and dive into the nightlife when the sun goes down.

Please note: During seasonal monsoon rains from Nov-Jan, we sometimes have to alter our itinerary as ferries between the islands do not operate during heavy rain and strong waves.

Meals included:  Breakfast

Day 12: Koh Pha Ngan

Enjoy a free day to explore the island's waterfalls, swim in lagoons, hike, or relax on the beach.

Day 13: Koh Pha Ngan/ Koh Tao

Hop on a ferry to laid-back Koh Tao.

During the past 10 years, the reputation of Koh Tao's natural beauty, especially its marine life and coral reefs, has spread the world over and the number of paradise seekers and divers increased rapidly. It's become one of the major dive sites in Thailand, attracting beginners and professionals alike. The island today, though still remaining a unique paradise, caters to all tastes and budgets.

Day 14: Koh Tao

Enjoy an included full-day snorkelling trip. There's an embarrassment of choices—but the better-known spots are: Hin Wong Bay, Mango Bay, Nang Yuan Island, South Mae Haad and Janson Bay.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch
